Image Bleed How to Create and What is its Importance


What is image bleed? Image bleed is the images allowance or an extension of an image for printing purposes. Images bleed is only an extra image around the actual images. It will be trimmed in the actual output material. Most printing companies’ uses these bleed especially in large volume of printing uses offset.

Importance of image bleed. Image bleed is necessary in images for printing. It was an extra image to be trimmed or cut out from the actual image size. It is needed so that actual image will not haw a white part or a blank part upon cutting of final image.


Standard on Image bleed. Mostly large printing companies use 0.125 inches for decimal or 1/8 inches in fractional value in their images image bleed. Others use 0.33 mm. there is no standard size on image bleed. It is depend upon the cutting and the printer on how large will be added as an image bleed. 


How can I create image bleed? Most graphics softwares like Adobe Photoshop offers an automatic adding of image bleed. But if there no available option on automatic you can also create image bleed manually.
