Fancy Windows 8 menu with tile icons caused some difficulty in most of us who specially to those familiar in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows XP start menu. Replacing start menu is much better by using Classic Shell Application. No coding needed, just install and run the application. You can also disable this application in few clicks only.

Now here is an example of modified Windows 8 Start menu using the Classic Shell, where you can see in the menu the standard shortcuts that usually Windows 7 have, like Search, Recent Items, Control Panel and others.

How to Install Classic Shell:
Download Classic Shell installer and launch the installation process, follow the installation instructions.
How to Run Classic Shell:
Double click the application shortcut on your Windows 8 computer, or press Windows Key on your keyboard and search for Classic Shell.
You can choose whether Classic Style Menu, Classic with two columns and Windows 7 Style menus in the option and click OK to apply.
There are other settings also that you can explore. Settings available like Sounds Settings, Language, Serach Box, Menu Look, Skin and others.

How to Disable Classic Shell Application
If you don't want the Windows 7 Start menu anymore you can disable it by Right click on the Start Menu and choose Exit.
